About AbleStay NZ
Making accessible travel easier across Aotearoa, one honest listing at a time.
Why AbleStay exists
Finding accessible accommodation in New Zealand shouldn't be this hard. Booking sites bury accessibility info in generic amenity lists. Hotel websites are vague. And the word "accessible" means something different everywhere you look.
AbleStay was built to fix that. Every listing on this site is specific about what's actually available — roll-in showers, grab rail placement, turning space, ground floor access. Not marketing language. Real information that lets people plan with confidence.
How it works
Search with purpose
Filter by region, accessibility level, and specific features. Find properties that genuinely meet your needs — not just ones that tick a vague "accessible" box.
Verified listings
Every listing is reviewed before going live. We check the details and follow up if something doesn't add up. No copy-paste from booking sites.
Honest reviews
Reviews come from people who've actually stayed. They rate specific features — not just overall impressions — so you know what's actually usable.
Free for owners
Accessible accommodation providers can list for free. If you've invested in making your property genuinely accessible, we want to help people find you.
Accessibility levels explained
Basic access
Step-free entry and accessible parking. Good for guests who are mobile but benefit from reduced barriers. May not suit full wheelchair users independently.
Moderate access
Wide doorways, grab rails, wet area or level-entry shower. Suitable for most wheelchair users, possibly with some assistance depending on specific needs.
Full wheelchair access
Roll-in shower, adequate turning space, fully accessible bathroom. Designed to be independently usable by full-time wheelchair users.
These levels are a guide. Always check the specific features listed and contact the property directly if you have particular requirements.
Know a property we've missed?
